Canadian Red Cross: Communications Officer Volunteer Openings
The Canadian Red Cross is looking for communications professionals to help with the BC forest fire response on a volunteer basis. Forest fires ignite around the province each year and threaten communities.
The Public Affairs role of the Red Cross is to communicate its disaster response to the media and the public so residents stay informed on how to receive aid, reunite with loved ones, and keep abreast of evacuation notices and damage.

Trips for Kids Vancouver
Trips for Kids Vancouver (www.tfkvancouver.org), based in Vancouver, BC, is an non-profit organization that takes at-risk youth out on low-cost or no-cost mountain bike rides. Trips for Kids is looking for someone who wants to volunteer their PR talents to our organization. It could provide a valuable professional development opportunity for a young PR associate or student. Trips for Kids Vancouver currently does very little PR and are looking for someone who has the drive and talent to create a no-cost PR plan and then put that plan into effect. Trips for Kids Vancouver envisions someone updating its blog, being active on Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels, and perhaps putting together a periodic newsletter. More than that, Trips for Kids Vancouver is looking for the perfect candidate to try to get some exposure in the more traditional media channels of radio, print and/or television. Your ideas will be most welcome and this project would be your own so the sky is really the limit!
Active involvement in the work of CPRS Vancouver allows you
to get more from your membership and helps CPRS: Vancouver become your type of society. For APRs, it will help you gain the points needed to maintain your Accreditation.
